yeshivas Kayitz never ends
So here comes the update of what is going on. I say "going on" because the effect and reach of the summer is not limited to the confines of such few weeks. So this is what happened over the weekend.
You would think that the trip would knock out the Chevre making the Shabbos meal lame and boring, yet it seemed that nobody wanted to lose out on the specialty and uniqueness of the Sharon Friday night experience, keeping us up to the wee hours of the morning.
Shabbos went with a bang, but not stam a bang, we're talking somethig way beyond anything else we saw this summer. SIX BOCHURIM BAUGHT ALIYOS PRMISIONG BLI NEDER TO FINISH BAVA BASRA OVER THE NEXT YEAR! besides a bunch of Mikva, Chitas and Rambam Hachlatas.
Shabbos afternoon we we're given the option of abisel shloff which most of lost our shpitzkeit at least for this Shabbos, and used out this rare opportunity of sleep.
Motzoei Shabbos, all hyper and excited we played steel the salami and Gaga, and headed to bed.
Morning came, payback time to those we owed trips to, and packing for the others. Work was in full swing, as we got ready for the banquet, where everything we lived through would culminate and "hit us" in the small time frame around the tables.
The banquet started with video of the Rebbe and Maariv. Then the speeches started, first to the stand was Director L. A. who sang his goodbye to the Chevre in an original song written to the hottest tune in Sharon, and a comedic song "camp is lame this place is insane come on everybody let's complain…"
Reb Shmuel Newman spoke passionately about the changes we all went through, and how we must never forget this summer and its lessons.
Some Bochurim put up the entertainment with gramen, songs and thoughts. Then came the highlight when each Talmid was given the chance to share his feelings and thoughts as YK comes to an end. It was getting warmer and warmer; we got some imitation from Counselor Eli Horwitz from day camp, and then we gave out the diplomas to hardest working Talmid and best in each class.
Kadaboom, the place soon went wild as Bochur after Bochur took the Hachlata to finish Bava Basra next year, each Hachlata got a kule from each staff member, all in all eighteen Bochurim (at least, I lost count) took the hachlata!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is insane……………..
Way into the morning we sat (some teary eyes were spotted). At five the airport group headed out, and before long we all loaded the busses back home.
What could I say, I have been in many a yeshivas Kayitz, I never heard this amount of thank you and appreciation, the Rebbe's Koichos were seen throughout, each and every Bochur either privately or in public admitted that "this was one of the touching and life changing summers they ever lived through, and this summer exceeded all expectations."
Since I'm sure this email be read by the Bochurim too, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, students, parents and staff for making this the greatest and most life changing five weeks we could've ever imagined.
Keep the spirit wherever you are the coming year, and you could already start looking forward for the reunion. Details to follow.
What if….. we didn't go to Yeshivas Kayitz Sharon?
Think globally act locally! Ker a velt heint!

Chain action in the most happening place on earth
Sorry for the slow flow in information, it really was a hectic week as you shall read.
On Sunday yeshiva ran kind of normal, until the night took over and with it the birthday of Hatomim L. A. and with it a shturemdike Farbrengen with many highlights like kule's, broken tables, food galore, and a Hachlata by every Cincinnati Bochur to go to Mikva the next morning!!!
Three am the chevre called it a night. The next morning at nine it was a sight to see so the whole clan heading down to the lake for an Erev tisha b'av dip… it was a sight. A nachas.
Monday went by with sports board games, some sleep, and a special trip for half the camp to a 4d imax theatre, and before we know it we are chewing on a hearty meal filling ourselves up to survive the fast.
At the unset of tisha b'av we listened to its history from Hatomim M. Katzman, and then drove to the local Chabad house for Maariv and Eicha, beans were flying (so were the knosim…) b"h there is nothing to worry bout, the kids here are defiantly not depressed souls…
The next morning Shacharis was at ten, and then the whole yeshiva sat sown for kinos (making history as the first Yeshivas Kayitz where kinos isn't voluntary), forty five minutes after Shacharis when the stomach were not yet acing we davened Mincha.
Board games, videos and sleep (cherry picking and Lexus test driving for a select few) basically sum up the day.
After Maariv we were teated to Mezonos, and then we walked out for Kidush Levana. A five course meal awaited us at the lunch room. Stuffed to the popping point we played some Gaga, showered and headed for our last night of normal sleep in a while.
Next morning all hearts were pumping as all new that the grand trip happens some time today, when and how were to remain undisclosed for the while. After Mincha the news officially broke and form then until the buses pulled out at 1:00 am all you heard about was white water discussion.
Laundry in the afternoon, followed by a special class in martial arts! and swimming/boating. Supper Maariv, packing, waiting for a delayed bus and we were on our way.
At 7:15 we pulled up to crab apple white water rafting in "The forks" Maine, quickly we dunked in the river, strapped our teffilin, got into our bathing suites and Tzitzis! and headed to launch point.
Instructions were followed by fitting of life jackets and helmets. We loaded the busses for a half an hour drive where we unloaded the rafts, then schlepped then down endless amount of stairs, got into the rafts and started our trip down the Kennebec River. Waives level three, four and five greeted us with cold wet slaps on our faces.
The weather was perfect in the low eighties, the water level was unusually high 6000 whatever instead of the normal 4800 and perfect atmosphere. We had a bomb! Hear all details from your son on Monday; we have to leave him something to talk about…
Soaking wet yet so elated and happy we finished our twelve mile journey, ending up at our campsite. We showered, used the Jacuzzi, dressed, and then watched pictures and videos of the wonderful moments down the river.
The halacha is that one cannot move the location of a Sefer Torah unless it is used three times, so we had three consecutive kriah's, followed by Mincha.
We set up camp with our tents (rented) and sleeping bags, built a fire and prepared a barbeque. Some boys went to see one of the most beautiful sights in Maine a 92 foot water fall, while the others swan in the pool and lake, played ball or took a wel deserved nap.
Supper was geshmak, with tons of meat and buns and all the side dishes. In good spirits we davened Maariv, then sat down for a kumzitz/Farbrengen, songs with stories and simply looking into the fire.
All the staff shared thought and their voices through out the night. From 1 to 3:30 was a special kumzitz "chain singing" one song after another.
Around four it kinda ended, and at five was wake-up... Mikva shacharis, breakfast, and back on the bus. No games Shabbos is coming.
To prove the importance of leaving early we had to get stuck in traffic, and finally a few minutes past twp we were back home.
As of five pm the place in almost a ghost town, everyone is sleeping or trying to. The last Shabbos is coming at us and we want to be prepared.
G-d willing we were report some time Sunday on the continuation of the weekend. Until then we remain
The must accurate updates from Y.K.S.C.

The hachlata weekend.
In true Sharon style the weekends here are four days long beginning on Thursday and concluding on late Sunday night.
Thursday night, we all packed in the "condo" for a video on the Beis Hamikdash playing live off the internet, ah! now it all comes to life. After that we kratzed as we waited for our guest farbrenger who in true Chabad fashion showed up at midnight! Rabbi Shmuli Posner spoke to the hearts of the Temimim begging them to become real and realize that this is the true life. At 2:30 he stood up and walked out. Suddenly.
Too much sleep we didn't get, for at 10:00 am we loaded the buses and headed to Rhode Island. No wasting time, first we toured "Breakers Mansion" a beautiful mansion owned by the Vanderbelt family who at its prime was richer then the United States government. We kind of got a taste of what Yemos hamoshiach housing will feel like, but as one bochur pointed out "there is no modern plasma's in the walls", so for the dor hashviei it doesn't attract. Gei farshtei.
From there we headed to the Touro synagogue, the oldest standing synagogue in the United States, where we heard a talk from Mr. Friedman on the uniqueness of this place.
Pictures, some Mivtzoim and we were out. We stopped over for slurpies in 7/11, and Mashke in the local liquor store in honor of the special guests, the GlenLivet, chivas, and Grey-goose, were the special treats of this Shabbos. Ok mothers it's not that terrible, we're doch from Russian origin. Of course there's no more then four.
Back in Sharon, ready for Shabbos, with the Simpson Mishpacha, in-laws of rabbi G. and Rabbi Y. Levin and family, brother-in-law of Rabbi G.
Shabbos chazon!
Friday night was another highlight of the summer, hachlata's were flying left and right, as the new harassment between the Bochurim became: "so what's your hachlata, fe shvache maasos…"
The last guys left past 3 am…
A record number of Bochurim went to Mikva Shabbos morning. Just to remember, it's the morning, its cold, not the greatest smelling lake in the area, and there is the scare of being seen… and half an hour less of precious sleep.
The auction for aliyos this week was a tornado, as the hachlata seeking boys challenged each other who will be mechabed the birthday boys and guests… happy birthday to Rabbi L. Simpson, we wish you a shnas bracha v'hatzlacha!
There was testing in the afternoon and a Farbrengen with rabbi Levin that began after Mincha at 6:30 and extended until way past Motzoei Shabbos, culminating with a dance for a long while. Wake up Yiden… "Shabbos chazon, if you believe, you will see".
Light's out was at 12:15 am, and another week began. May this week be the first week in Geulah, and may we be zoche to the grandest "grand trip" of all time, when we will fly on clouds to Yerushalayim, speedily, now!

Nine days action
Before we know it, another few days have just flown by.
We are holding at Monday morning. Well Monday started as usual, and was relatively a normal day, including an hour and a half Shiur on safrus from Rabbi Zirkind, a surprise Farbrengen for one of the rooms, and a shtarke night Seder.
Tuesday we had a special course on first aid from our very own lifeguard Mendel K. instead of night Seder each class Farbrenged with their teacher for about an hour, until it was cut short by Maariv, followed by fifty minutes to shower and prepare for bed.
At 10:30 (after being delayed because the side door of the minivan fell off…) all the Chevre drove out to bowling.
Of course we got lost and ended up asking some druggies for directions, and ended up at the entrance at 11:43, the doors were closed. Official closing time was 12:00 and after much begging we got in and played a fifteen minute game. Short and sweet we were back in yeshiva at 12:45, and another day has passed.
Wednesday was rain day, but in a place like YKS this doesn't pose a problem, dodge ball, risk, chess and taboo kept the boys busy all the way through. A music class was offered for all the musicly inclined, delivered by Moshe Frank, ah that's the pshat in a Dm.
A game of Bokbok kind of summed up the day. An extra half hour sleep was offered to the Bochurim last night and it was used out to the max.
Big news: a record amount of Bachurim went to Mikva this morning, including some newbie's who never went to Mikva in a long time. Mazal Tov!
Many happy days are coming now! Tonight we'll be watching a video on the Beis Hamikdash may it soon be rebuilt. and we'll farbreng...

A weekend like you can't imagine
It was a weekend to remember. Thursday afternoon we rented a roller-skating ring all for ourselves. I must commend the mesiras nefesh of the boys who although the ring felt empty (26 people at most, instead of 300) and the music was funeral material created for the three weeks – acapella, nevertheless they overcame the hardships and had a grand time.
Who ever promised to "learn" Rambam till the end of the summer was given five dollars in tokens for the arcades, most Bochurim took the challenge. Those who cleaned their rooms the night before namely everybody were treated to a game of laser tag.
On the way back we stopped at a mall and counselor M. F. handed each Bochur three dollars, giving them twenty five minutes to return with the largest object possible either in size or weight.
S. L. convinced the bus driver to sell him the bus for five minutes for one cent, when asked for proof he convinced the bus driver to hand him the keys yet due the fact that the bus has no key he was given the key to his car. A ganze pilpul started if buying the bus al pi halacha was a kinyan or not. Is it rental or sail, is he a minor….What do you think?
We returned straight to a prepared Siyum Harambam in the zal, around tables laden with food and drink, we heard geshmake divrei Torah. Most staff spoke, then we sang and davened Maariv as we waited for the star of the evening Rabbi M. Bleich of Wellesley Ma.
It was worth the wait. Heralded as the greatest Farbrengen of the century, it was an experience that we will never forget. In between sharing his life story as a Chassidishe boy in Boro-Park, and one of his current occupations as a chaplain for the Boston Red-sox, all (but one) the Bochurim sat opened mouthed past three am! Smash! Ask your son for the red-sox proposal….
Next day was unofficial lazy day, Fe! Whatever we davened at ten, then had some seder then of to a grand all star game minus those sleeping… then laundry for some, and shopping for others.
Defying the calmness of Sharon it happened that everything was hectic until a minure before Shabbos. Ba Shabbos, ba menucha.
This Shabbos we were treated with very special guests: Rabbis Yosel and Yonah Avtzon and family! Rabbi M. Plotkin was there too. Friday night we were all knocked out but nevertheless sat and listended to the speakers. Rabbi Yonah spoke about learning Rambam telling us that at a Farbrengen the Rebbe called him up to take mashke and introduced him as the shliach of the prierdike Rebbe to spread the learning of Rambam!
Next morning the zal was packed with Bochurim ssaying Tehillim, making a record of Bochurim who finished the entire Tehillim. Shacharis was geknocked, the highlight was the alios selling. S. A. baught his father Maftir for eight months of daily Mikva! While S.L. bought hagba for two months Mikva! Many other special sales were noted.
There was chazarah in the afternoon, and at six Mincha followed by Farbrengen with the guests. For over two hours Rabbi Avtzon spoke of different Horaos he received from the Rebbe and interesting anecdotes of his life around the Rebbe. As his son it was a good opportunity to hear much information which was never spoken about.
After Shabbos those who were tested went bowling and the rest participated in a grand game of Ga Ga. Tired yet satisfied another week was closed.
VISITING DAY! This morning was a packed Chassidus followed by a shtarke Davening, breakfast and seder for an hour. For those without visitors we arranged laundry and boating. Nu nu, don't feel guilty, they had a good time, and the money I'm sure was sent anyway.
A rained out barbeque followed by a stong video from the Rebbe on Shleimus Haaretz summed up the day. After a week of late nights, tonight light's out is "normal" time, we got to somewhat get back to schedule. Ye Ye, just a dream.
